Returning home from Inaba, however, Souji was brought to [community profile] demeleier, a village controlled by faeries. Not the typical sweet, kindly faeries with glitter and butterfly wings (although they appeared so when it suited them) but faeries that were a great deal more dangerous. Souji arrived to find two of his friends - Yosuke and Chie - had arrived before him, and this helped him adapt and ground himself in the new situation. Despite the drawbacks of the situation, Souji took things in his stride - one of the first things he did was volunteer to help out at the village's inn.

The next friendly face to turn up was Adachi Tohru, the murderer that Souji and his team had caught back at home. Meeting with him alone, Souji and Adachi made a deal - if Adachi did not harm, or threaten to harm, the residents of the village, Souji would not warn people about him or try to incarcerate him, and would ensure his friends do the same. It was not a situation that Souji was happy with, but it seemed the smoothest and most reasonable way to handle things - and maybe part of him hoped that, given a second chance, Adachi could change his ways. His friends did not take well to the idea but, trusting Souji to do right by them as he always had, agreed to go along with it.

Though he kept a watchful eye on Adachi, Souji focused on other things - helping people where and however he could, working at the inn, honing his swordsmanship, and looking after his little cousin Nanako when she turned up shortly after. Even with the difficulties of living in Demeleier, Souji had come to value a lot about the place, notably the people - with a growing number of his best friends from Inaba and the girl who was a sister there with him, he was even hesitant to say he wanted to go home. With Valeria the Turk and, surprisingly, Adachi, Souji was one of the founding members of the Demeleier Watch, designed to protect and guard their small community. Souji still made time for working at the inn and looking after Nanako, even as Valeria's second.

On arriving in Demeleier, Souji had found his persona abilities usable outside of the tv world, but only with one persona - the first, Izanagi. This would change a few months into his stay in the village when he earned back Tam Lin, a persona based on a legend that Demeleier played out true - with Souji himself taking the part of Tam Lin. Captured by the fae, Souji was rescued one week after by his friends, hazing been under the glamour of the fae queen. When the daze wore off, he had access to his second persona.

Over time, more from Inaba began to show up. With Souji's Investigation Team almost complete, the pact he'd made with Adachi became a double-edged sword. Though he kept a strong, determined expression on for his group, he privately doubted the choice he'd made. The coming and going of friends in Demeleier was hard to take. Despite going out of his way not to be an absentee in Nanako's life, as her father had been for much of it, he felt considerable guilt nonetheless, and his many responsibilities were a delicate balancing act, especially when Valeria's disappearance lead to Souji stepping up to take over the Watch.

But despite this, Souji maintained a positive, calm outlook, though perhaps a little more work-orientated. He did, however, form a close friendship with Ange Ushiromiya, a girl who kept a stoney face but eventually began to open up to him. After one particularly unpleasant round of village-wide nightmares, Ange ended up kissing him, which Souji was only too happy to reciprocate. This relationship would last for the rest of Souji's time in Demeleier, and he's likely to still consider himself a taken man.

However, even as Souji focused on the good, and on what he could do, it was becoming increasingly apparent that something was wrong with Adachi - at least, more urgently and volatile than before. Encouraged by the queen of the fae, Adachi was becoming unhinged, and the presence of Saki, a girl he'd murdered, was only making this more of a concern. Their pact was held - to Souji's knowledge - but he could not shake the dread he felt, and the sense that something was about to go wrong.

His instincts won true. Adachi was beaten within an inch of his life by another villager close to Saki, and he had fled. The queen had delighted in this and decided to use it - she twisted Adachi and his persona, Magatsu Izanagi, effectively allowing Adachi to go on a murderous rampage. Which he did. With gusto. And murder.

After a fight against much of the village in which Magatsu Izanagi was beaten back, this culminated in Souji chasing Adachi into the forest alone. Despite his own rage, his own grief, and his own sickening guilt over what had happened, Souji went after him with the resolve not to attack him. Adachi had no such qualms, and, even with his fae-given strength waning, would have killed him.

Souji stabbed him. He is still not sure, himself, if it was intentional or accidental or perhaps both, but he killed Adachi in the woods. He was almost beaten to death himself, but this reasoning was not enough to absolve Souji in his own eyes. Not only had he killed Adachi, but in a way, he was responsible for the lives Adachi had taken and the hurt he'd caused. Although many people in Demeleier backed Souji up that he'd acted honourably and did the best thing, Souji still felt that what he'd done was irrevocably wrong, and although Souji would generally be quick to forgive or understand another, he could not easily find the same for himself, especially with the knowledge that the faith his friends had in him had also been deeply shaken.

Grounded by his sense of duty and responsibility, Souji continued with life in Demeleier, but it was not proving possible for that - or him - to be the same as it was before. When Adachi failed to return to life as most in Demeleier did, Souji only became more sickened with himself, and although he was able to regard the situation with a steadier, more rational mind as time went on, he has still been unable to shake it off at all - the responsibility, the guilt, the blood on his hands. The overwhelming failure, not just in himself, but for everyone else around him - and, maybe, Adachi as well.

Over the time that Souji spent in Demeleier following this, he gradually began to come to terms with things - at least, he became much better at keeping it carefully out of sight and largely out of mind. When returned home, the memories of Demeleier faded, limited to dreams. When Souji returns to Demeleier, he will feel like he never left.

Canonically, Souji represents the Fool Arcana, a figure on a journey to discover. He is clever, capable, and ultimately adaptable - as one would expect of the wild card. Consistently in a state of flux, movement and change, yet never lost in it.

Indeed, Souji's life has been centred around changes in scene and journeying, frequently changing schools and areas as his parents moved around a great deal for their career. This has set him up to be quite the people person - he knows how to read and assess those around him, and acts accordingly to that. As others revolve around him, he is able to put on a different face, a different smile, for each one, not a deceitfulness on his part but, perhaps, a desire to appease. The little changes are in everything from his expression to his stance - for example, when in the classroom he keeps squared shoulders and straight back, the model student, but with his uncle he adopts a casual slouch, a far more 'normal' pose for a teenager to have. Because of this ability to mingle and mix in, as well as some inherent charisma, Souji has always been popular for however long he was within a group of people.

And yet, he is, in himself, a very private person. He keeps himself to himself, even if you couldn't quite call him secretive - while he knows how to be discreet when necessary, in most situations he's actually pretty honest, even brutally so at times. Diplomacy might be a valuable trait, and one he can use well, but Souji isn't the type to sugar-coat his words. When he believes something needs to be said, he will say it.

Despite, or perhaps because of this, Souji is entirely used to people coming to him for advice. He seems to attract it, in fact - he possesses that approachable kind of blankness that compels people to open up to him. Inevitably, people yield their problems to him, and he considers it his duty to help them with them. Souji willingly burdens himself with the weights others carry, seeking always to protect and to aid those around him in whatever way he can. This only became a stronger need in Inaba, when the friendships and bonds he formed became imperative to what lay ahead for him.

In fact, Souji’s a bit lost without having other people to help, other burdens to carry. Responsibility is important, and Souji is someone who takes on a great deal of it without complaint or hesitation. He’s just the type you’d want helping you, too, unfalteringly reliable, always willing. He is not, however, invincible, and has no more immunity to these problems than anyone else. He just tends to play it off like he does. That makes it easier for everyone else, and that’s what matters, to Souji. He has always been, especially since the events that took place in Inaba, a self-assured individual, and this is something that shows in how he conducts himself, not in an arrogant way but instead one that invites trust and confidence. In Demeleier, this self-assurance was cracked - almost shattered - and Souji is still figuring out how to piece things, how to piece himself, back together.

Those cracks are still running deep in him, however, along with the feelings of guilt that he carries. He was never one to act rashly before, but now he's more likely to be willfully withdrawn about things, and his worries will be far more powerful than they were in the past. Despite this, however, Souji will present himself as he always has and, at his core, is. Perhaps a bit prone to bottling things up, a bit too willing to always tell others he’s doing just fine, but on the whole he remains calm and capable, a youth surprisingly level-headed and mature. He’s certainly a strong, solid ally, and even as he continues on his path, the bonds he made remain in place.

He knows that he needs them, after all.
ᴀʙɪʟɪᴛɪᴇs:
Souji is human. He is athletic, especially after his time in Demeleier, but not super-strong or fast on his own. He’s intelligent, always ranged in the top names of his year, but also possessing a calm, rational mind capable of making logical decisions, even under duress. He enjoys cooking for others (again, something which he developed a great deal in Demeleier) and is generally very good (with a few mishaps, of course, which he'll eat anyway), and also enjoys origami.

Fairly run-of-the-mill, altogether, for a teenage boy.

However, Souji is also able to enter televisions at will, to access the ‘tv world’ that lurks beyond the screen. It is here that Souji awakened his ability to use Persona - a physical manisfestation of the strength inside a person. He's a swordsman, favouring a katana, but his style is eclectic to say the least thanks to his background - self-taught, book tips, and picking up what he could from others in Demeleier.

Souji represents the Fool Arcana, or the wild card - and that means that instead of having only one persona, he has the ability of switching between them, and can hold up to twelve within him at any time. These allow him to use different abilities and spells, defensive or offensive, and makes him an incredibly versatile fighter, able to fulfil whatever role necessary. He is very capable himself with a weapon in hand, but it is in his personae that his true strength lies.

I'd like to limit Souji's 12 personae to the three he had in Demeleier before (perhaps with the chance to earn more later if allowed!). The personae that Souji will currently have use of in game will be: Izanagi, Tam Lin, and Loki.
ɪɴᴠᴇɴᴛᴏʀʏ: His katana, his link of iron, a wreathe of rowan, a heel of bread in his pocket, and his old Demeleier communicator - rendered useless.

NOTES: I have not played P4: Golden but if I get the chance, aspects of the canon will probably be taken into consideration! If this was anything pretty big to the character, I'd clear it with the mods first!
